Corporate Social Responsibility & ESG PR.

At Altitude we ensure your CSR/ESG activity and earned social value is shared and noticed. Through targeted media engagement and tapping into our contacts, we earn enthusiastic media coverage.

Devising, implementing, and demonstrating the results of environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies has never been more important. PR gives businesses and organisations the tool to ensure earned social value is both shared and noticed.

Is your ESG messaging fit for purpose? How does it fit with your reputation management strategy or your wider communications strategy? We can help you understand the power of ESG communications and how you can share your journey with stakeholders. We work with some of the biggest construction and renewable businesses in the world and have a deep understanding of sustainability, community engagement and ethical transparency.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a business management concept that sees businesses or organisations work towards shared societal goals. In practising and demonstrating CSR, a business can align its behaviour with its values.

CSR is more than a tool for a company to improve its image. Effective CSR creates an opportunity to improve brand reputation and present an authentic image.

So, What Is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Why is CSR important?

Engaging in well considered CSR programmes and communicating what you’re doing effectively, is attractive to all stakeholders including customers, employees, suppliers, and investors. The long-term sustainability of a business hinges on CSR and how well you communicate your outputs and impacts. For businesses seeking deeper levels of engagement with communities or customers, carefully implemented CSR programmes can be incredibly effective. Communicating your CSR is vitally important if you want your audience to understand your values and have confidence that your behaviour aligns with these values. When your values and behaviour are aligned, you will begin to earn the trust of your audience.

The Benefits of Evidencing CSR for Businesses

Demonstrating social value and developing PR about your business’s activity and purpose helps you to differentiate from competitors. By taking the lead and actively living your values, you are creating your own opportunity to shape the future of your business or brand and, in some cases, your industry.

We aren’t expecting you to give away your company as Patagonia’s Yvon Chouinard, however, there are a million and one ways to have a positive social impact.

Corporate Social Responsibility FAQs

  • CSR is not a marketing strategy. Corporate Social Responsibility is a discipline in itself and gives rise to CSR strategies. An organisation’s CSR activity can, and should be, reflected in a marketing strategy. CSR should be communicated both internally and externally in an organisation and can form an important part of both PR and marketing efforts.

  • Corporate Social Responsibility can be promoted via PR activity. CSR should not be seen as a means to an end and shouldn’t be viewed solely as a way to generate publicity. It is acceptable to promote the good work your organisation does but this should never be for the sole purpose of gaining publicity.

Good organisations celebrate good achievements and it’s perfectly okay to tell your stakeholders about your work. Perhaps your employees have raised money for charity, taken part in a litter pick or spent a day volunteering? Perhaps your fleet has gone totally electric and you plan to become carbon negative? CSR should be embedded within a business or organisation and PR should simply be a way of ensuring your values are being communicated and confirming that your actions and culture are in line.
