Barnsley Museums represents a brilliant collection of museums spread throughout the borough. Their exhibits and exhibitions encourage visitors to explore the people and places of Barnsley.


Brief

Barnsley Museums wanted to publicise an upcoming exhibition at Experience Barnsley. The exhibition celebrated the local cultural memory and history of the town’s old Slazenger factory and the museum hoped to excite national media with a tennis-themed publicity stunt to tie into the start of the 2022 Wimbledon tournament.


Our Activity

We worked closely with the museum’s curators and marketing team to engage the national media before publicising the exhibition’s opening and a publicity stunt involving filling a traditional red phone box with Slazenger tennis balls.

Results

Altitude provided strategic support while generating positive media coverage in both local and national media. The charming story behind the exhibition was broadcast around the country and national journalists found that they couldn’t resist the publicity stunt.
